HITC Orphan Care Ministry
It is estimated that there are now more than 167 MILLION orphans in the world today. That statistic is mind-boggling and many of us have a burden to do something about the orphan crisis but don't know what or how. We have no doubt that God is using the Orphan Care ministry to equip us with action steps that are fueled by the compassion and burden He is stirring in our hearts for orphans. God is speaking to believers across the city and around the nation to be active in reversing the global orphan crisis and it is exciting to be a part of what He is doing!
OUR PURPOSE:
Orphan Care Ministry is a group dedicated to praying for orphans and identifying ways the whole church body can be involved in caring for orphans in Austin and around the world. This includes adoption, foster care, short term trips, providing financial and physical resources, fostering awareness within the church and community, and partnering with other churches in Austin.
The HITC Orphan Care Ministry focuses on three areas:
1. Provide resources and support for individuals and families who are interested in adoption and/or foster care. This includes participation in The ABBA Fund (http://www.abbafund.org/) to provide financial resources for those who adopt.2. Hands-on involvement in an Austin-based organization that cares for orphans right here in our city.
3. Support and involvement with an international ministry that cares for orphans.
In addition to these areas we are actively involved in the Austin area "For the Orphan Church Network". This is a group of over 20 churches who are committed to advocating for the fatherless here in Austin and around the world.
