Who We Are
Someone asked me recently: "What makes your church different than the rest of the churches in Austin?" Hopefully, a quick browse of this site will give a feel of WHO WE REALLY ARE. That's our goal. We're not attempting to sell you on the merits of our church over the dozens of other life-giving churches in our city. We are actually similar to many other churches in this city. more...
Our History
The 1999 Board of Directors meeting for Hope Chapel could be said to be the moment of conception for Hope in the City. Board member Gary Kinamen from Mesa Arizona lobbed a bomb into the discussion when he suggested that Ron and Janine become the next church planters sent out from Hope Chapel. When he broached this possibility most of us in the board room of the Embassy Suites hotel on that faithful day in October felt something prophetic had just been released. more...
What We Do
At Hope in the City, we believe that "church" is more than just meeting on Sunday morning. We desire to connect with one another throughout the week through small group communities that meet in homes. We call them Hope Groups. We also want people to be equipped in thier giftings and find ways to use those gifts. There are several areas of ministry to get involved: Worship & Creative Arts, Prayer, Outreach, Service, & Giving. Each of these broad areas have specific teams and tasks to plug into. Everything from the Parking Team, to the Media Team.
The heart and soul of what we do is loving Jesus, and loving others, both in our city and around the world. We are passionate about making disciples in all nations. So much so, that we have our very own School of Church Planting or SCP. The SCP is an integral part of our vision and our desire is to see many church planting teams sent out from us.
