February 18

On February 18 Chick-fil-A is teaming up with the HITC Youth for their Summer Missions fundraiser. Go to Chick-fil-a located at Mopac and 290 from 5-8pm on the evening of the 18th and 10% of all sales will go to the youth. Be sure that you say that you are there to support the HITC Youth. We want as many people involved as we can get and as we all know, Chick-fil-A is one awesome place to grab a chicken sandwhich. As the cows say, "EAT MOR CHIKIN...!

Words of Hope: our Book Drive is in action!

All February

Each Sunday for the month of February, we will be collecting books outside the Pre-school area, or you may drop them off during HITC office hours. We are creating a children’s library for our Pre-school & Elementary Kids to give them the gift of knowledge, empowerment, and confidence. The library will have computer stations where children can write reviews to share their voice and experience of the books. We need your help and we can’t do without you! Your contribution can be in the form of new or gently used books, a financial gift toward buying additional books & library software, or to help with creating the library catalog. For more information or if you would like to be apart of this project’s success email Chalene Hill at wordsofhopeHITC@gmail.com .

Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent by Beth Moore

Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent by Beth Moore

Starting Thursday, February 11

9 - 11a.m.

Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent by Beth Moore is an in-depth look at 15 Psalms. Just as a song or poem can express feelings of fear, doubt, hope, and joy, these 15 psalms model how study participants can voice their own petitions and praises to our God, who is always available and ready to hear us. Explore the major feasts of Israel and journey with Beth through Psalms 120-134 in this 7-session study. Themes such as unity, joy and gratitude, redemption, repentance, the power of blessings, facing ridicule, and more are explored in detail. Modern-day believers can learn much from these treasured Psalms in their journey toward greater intimacy with God. (7sessions)

9:00am - 11:00am at HITC. Exact location to be announced. Contact Pam Lambert at pwlambert10@yahoo.com or 968-6421 for more information, to register for the class and to talk about childcare if it is needed.

Engaging Islam

Engaging Islam | Share the Truth with Bold Love

Hosted by Hope in the City

April 9-10 | Mark Your Calendars

Engaging Islam is designed to help Christians understand Muslims and learn how to face the challenge of effectively communicating the Gospel to them. Muslims are no longer far away. They are here among us. Millions of Muslim immigrants, refugees, students, businessmen and tourist walk our street and drive our roads. How do we respond to this influx of Muslims to our cities? Many are threatened, others are complacent, and others are tolerant. We want to do what Jesus would do and reach out to them with the love of Christ and the gospel of life and salvation.

This weekend is designed to 1) Show what the Bible teaches with respect to Muslims and 2) Call Christians to understand their part in Jesus Christ's Great Commission to the Church. Our approach is biblically based, compassionate and passionate. Every Christian can play a part in drawing Muslims to the knowledge of our Savior and Lord.

Come see for yourself! Join us at Hope in the City Friday, April 9, 6:30pm - 8:30pm and Saturday, April 10, 8:45am - 3:30pm. Visit www.engagingislam.org for more information.

Donations for The Village Center

Donations for the Village Center & Volunteering

Providing for our Refugees

Hello HITC Family! "The Village Center" involves a group from Hope in the City who have partnered with other churches to minister to an apartment community whose resident population is made up of 80-85% refugees. We have families from Buhrma, Iraq, Cuba, Burundi, Somalia, and other war torn nations. We are also partnering with an organization called Refugee Service of Texas (RST). This group provides living accomodations and helps the new arrivals get a jump start to their lives in our country.

We are always looking for people who would like to volunteer their time to help us serve and bless this community. Another practical need involves items to help furnish the homes of our new friends. RST is given a budget for the new families and has a list of items that must be provided. This includes a couch, dining table, pots and pans, dishes, and other furnishings. They receive much of these items as donations and must purchase them if unavailable. To purchase them means that the families will be given less to help support themselves. If you have anything you would be willing to donate, anything helps; however they are stocked up on clothing at present. If you would like to get involved or make a donation, please email David Allen, daveka73@aol.com or Bethany Allen, bellaitaliano82@yahoo.com. RST has a person who can come to your home on Mondays to pick up donated furnishings. Thank you and God bless.
