about

Hope 242 is the college student ministry of Hope in the City. We gather in Hope Groups on campuses throughout the city during the week and celebrate together on Friday nights at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Texas.

Passion for Jesus • Compassion for people

Hope 242 lives out its mission of demonstrating a passion for Jesus and compassion for people through Hope Groups, corporate worship and outreach.

Hope Groups consist of 6-15 people meeting together on campus to worship Jesus, apply the Bible to daily living, grow in relationships with other believers, pray for one another and non-believers, and extend God's love to those who do not know Him. In a Hope Group a student develops a deeper relationship with God, matures in character, and discovers his/her gifts.

Friday Night Worship unites all of our Hope Groups for a celebration service. All groups gather to participate in an extended time of worship led by Hope 242's worship team, to hear teaching from Scripture, and to respond to God's Word.

Outreach...during the year, Hope 242 provides many opportunities for students to share the Good News of Christ with those who may have never known Jesus or forgotten Him. Week after week in Hope Groups, during our annual Spring Break Mission Trip, and in multiple overseas summer trips, we share the presence and life of Jesus.

"Hope 242 has made a huge difference in my time at college and in my life as a whole. Even though I didn't become a part of the student ministry until my sophomore year, everyone was so accepting and caring that I immediately felt like a part of the group. Attending Friday Night Worship has truly shown me how to accept God's love and worship freely, and my Hope Group has allowed me to find a secure place to ask questions and learn from the experiences of others. I'm so grateful for the time I've spent with this group, and I really hope that other students can also grow closer to God with the help of these amazing people!"

“As a summer freshman I didn’t really know anyone till the fall semester.  Then about mid-way into the semester, I joined Hope242 through going to a small Hope Group meeting with a friend I met in the summer.  I couldn’t believe what I was missing!  The first Hope Group meeting was amazing.  These new faces quickly became friends; we not only introduced ourselves but introduced our personalities. We have prayed and loved on each other and have lifted each other up. While at Hope242 I have experienced God in such intense ways and have matured spiritually more in the year I have been with them than I have in my 3 year walk with Christ.  Though Hope242 is officially a ministry, in reality, it’s a family; a community of friends that love God and manifest his love unto others.”
