Our Vision

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." - Acts 2:42

Hope 242 is the college student ministry of Hope in the City. We gather in Hope Groups on the UT campus during the week and celebrate Jesus together on Friday nights at 7:30 p.m. for our Friday Night Worship on campus.

Passion for Jesus • Compassion for people

Fulfilling the values of Hope in the City, Hope 242 lives out its mission of demonstrating a passion for Jesus and compassion for people through Hope Groups, corporate worship and outreach.

Hope Groups consist of 6-15 people meeting together on campus to worship Jesus, apply the Bible to daily living, grow in relationships with other believers, pray for one another and non-believers, and extend God's love to those who do not know Him. In a Hope Group a student develops a deeper relationship with God, matures in character, and discovers his/her gifts.

Friday Night Worship unites all of our Hope Groups for a celebration service. All groups gather to participate in an extended time of worship led by Hope 242's worship team, to hear teaching from Scripture, and to respond to God's Word.

Outreach
...during the year, Hope 242 provides many opportunities for students to share the Good News of Christ with those who may have never known Jesus or forgotten Him. Though our witness occurs primarily through Hope Groups, we also share Christ's love with others through fall outreach to new students, Halloween outreach on 6th Street, and our annual Monterrey, Mexico Spring Break Mission Trip. Other opportunities include overseas outreaches, ministry in Austin and relational evangelism.
