“When I came to 242, I was totally blown away by the genuine way that everyone accepted me. People were generally interested in getting to know me and they gave me friendship and support at a time when I needed it the most. Coming from an atheist background, I had many preconceived notions about Christians, and the people at 242 shattered them - they were nice, they were a lot of fun, and most importantly, they were incredibly humble and did not seek any honor for themselves. I have been so encouraged in my years here, and I have grown and changed so much. Knowing Jesus is the best thing that ever happened to me, and I couldn't have picked a better group of people to follow him with.”
"The first time that I ever came to 242, I felt more welcome than I have ever felt anywhere else in my life. All of the people are so kind and caring. The love for Jesus shines and they pour it out to others. I knew immediately that I wanted to come back and be a part of this group.
And as a part of this group, I've learned so much about who Jesus is and who I am in Christ. It has drastically changed my life and my perceptions. Hope 242 was the best thing about my freshman year in college."
"As a freshman, it was hard to move nine hours from home with just one or two people that I knew and feel like someone actually wanted to care about me, know me, and love me for who I am. And that's what the people in Hope did. They wanted to know what was going on in my life; people wanted to know - actually know - what was happening that week."
“Community. That's what this togetherness is all about. Just like in Acts 2:42, where the Bible says that the believers lived in togetherness. Until learning to share my life with others who follow Jesus, my walk with God was a lot harder than it needed to be. I always tried to do it on my own. But after experiencing Christ through this community of believers for a whole year, I can say that serving God went from being a duty to a delight.”
